OMHS Financial Assistance

If you are having difficulty paying your hospital bill, you may be feeling confused, frustrated, or even overwhelmed. At OMHS, we're on your side. Our assistance program is designed to help people overcome financial challenges. We are trained to find solutions for your circumstances and to always treat you with respect and courtesy. Applications

You can also pick up an application at the hospital's main campus on Parrish Avenue or at the Business Center, 2501 Frederica Street in Owensboro, or call (270) 685-7501 to have one mailed to you. Financial counseling is available at both locations from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Eligibility Guidelines

 Q. How do you make financial aid decisions?
 A. We consider three factors: family size, income, and the amount of your medical bills.

 Q. What income level qualifies?
 A. Incomes up to 225% of the federal povery level are eligible for 100% financial assistance. A minimun of 27.5% assistance is  available for incomes up to 375% of the federal poverty level.  

 Q. How much could I be eligible to receive?
 A. For qualified applicants, assistance amounts could range from a minimum of 25% to a maximum of 100% of the patient responsibility.   

 Q. What if I don't qualify?
 A. If you are uninsured, you receive an automatic 10% discount and could receive a total discount up to 25% (another 15%) even if you do not qualify for aid through our assistance program. We can also help you apply for Medicaid or Social Security Disability if you are a potential candidate.

 Q. Is there a prompt-pay discount?
 A. Any patient may receive a 10% prompt-pay discount for out-of pocket amounts.

OMHS policy guarantees emergency treatment for everyone

The OMHS Emergency Department is committed to providing high-quality, comprehensive medical treatment to all patients, regardless of their ability to pay. Patients who come to the emergency department, or who are in route via ambulance, can expect to be screened and treated for emergency medical conditions by qualified healthcare professionals. Patients will also be stabilized prior to discharge or transfer, and we will never delay a medical screening examination to obtain financial information.
