Service/responsibilities

Endoscopy provides care to all ages in the form of therapeutic, diagnostic and monitoring. 

Technology

The Endoscopy department has 4 GI Suites equipped with video towers and electronic vital sign monitoring. Endoscopy offers state of the art equipment for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Staffing

RN’s and Endo techs staff the Endoscopy Department. The nurse to patient ratio is 1:1, meaning each patient gets specialized one-on-one care by a registered nurse. The average daily census is 25 to 30 patients. Operating hours are 6am to 5pm Monday – Friday. Weekend and after hour emergency converge is required of the Endoscopy Department.

Training/Education

Professional growth is an important aspect of Endoscopy nursing. Our service seeks to promote knowledge and skills as a means of meeting the latest technological atonements. Endoscopy nurses are encouraged to obtain certification from the SGNA with in two years of hire in the Endsocopy department.

Continuous Quality Improvement

The Ednoscopy Department participates in the hospitals Quality Improvement. They also support the SCIP measures that apply to patients undergoing procedures. Unit personnel participate in nurse driven indicatives that improve the working environment for both nurses and the care delivered to their patients. Endoscopy works with OPS to conduct it’s own Patient Satisfaction survey to get more immediate feedback in order to the satisfaction of patients.
