Applying For Nursing Educational Assistance

Who is eligible?

Students who have been accepted into an accredited nursing program may apply for educational assistance. Candidates must be seeking a first-time nursing degree. 

How much am I eligible for?

Our program offers up to $2500 per semester for a maximum of four (4) semesters. Funds may be used to cover the cost of tuition, books, fees and uniforms. Assistance is awarded prior to the fall or spring semester, whichever is applicable.

When is the deadline?

To be eligible for educational assistance for the Fall 2012 semester you must complete the application package and it must be received by Human Resources by July 2, 2012.

Students currently receiving educational assistance who wish to renew for the Fall 2012 semester must have their most recent semester’s grades in by July 2, 2012, or your financial assistance will be forfeited.

After I apply, what is the next step?

A selection committee will review your application. If you are selected to advance, you will be asked to interview with a team of department managers. Applicants are scored on their communication skills and professionalism.

How will I be evaluated?

Your request will be evaluated based by the above criteria. You will be notified upon approval or denial of your assistance request.

What are the academic requirements of the program?

Students are required to maintain a 3.0 GPA and current enrollment in the nursing program.  See full ongoing educational assistance requirements.

What are my obligations to OMHS?

In applying for educational assistance, students commit to work at OMHS for a designated period of time--six months for every semester funded--once they obtain RN licensure. Students who reject an offer of employment or withdraw from their nursing program will be expected to reimburse the educational assistance plus eight percent.
