Laparoscopy
Laparoscopy describes a group of operations performed with the aid of a camera placed in the abdomen or pelvis. The laparoscope allows doctors to perform both minor and complex surgeries with a few small incisions in the abdomen and, in some cases, just one incision. Learn more >>
Robotic-Assisted Surgery
Robotic surgery is a technique in which a physician performs surgery using a computer that remotely controls very small instruments attached to a robot. The surgeon sits at a computer station nearby and directs the movements of a robot. At OMHS, surgeons are offering the da Vinci® surgical system as another effective minimally-invasive option.
Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery
Video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) allows surgeons at OMHS to look and work inside the chest cavity by making only a few small incisions. The technology is being used to treat collapsed lungs, diagnose infections and remove and test masses for cancer.
