From interrupting sleep to limiting physical activity, pain disrupts lives in many ways. Often pain is a symptom of a chronic condition, and sometimes the pain itself is the condition. Either way, the America Pain Foundation states that more than one-quarter of Americans age 20 years and over, or an estimated 76.5 million Americans, report that they have had a problem with pain that persisted for more than 24 hours in duration.
