Surgical Technology at OMHS: come rub elbows with us

It’s a challenge. Everyone in the operating room is counting on you: the surgeon, the team, the patient. But for you, a certified surgical technologist at OMHS, it’s what you’ve been trained to do, and you’re confident.

You’ve prepared the instruments—the scalpel, the forceps, the scopes. You know the surgeon’s next move, and you hand each instrument with perfect timing. You’re part of the team, and at the end of the day, your work will have made a difference in the life of a patient.

Now that’s what you call a career change.

Welcome to the world of surgical technology, where you can work elbow to elbow with top-notch medical professionals. It’s not for everyone, but if you’re up for the challenge, a career as a surgical technologist can mean rewarding work that fits your lifestyle.

At OMHS, you’ll find a supportive team atmosphere and career flexibility. You’ll work with world-class equipment, like the da Vinci robot, and receive continuous education on the latest surgical techniques. Most important, you’ll take pride in helping patients and working for a hospital ranked among the Top 5% in the nation for clinical excellence.

"...a dramatic impact on the overall care of the patient."

“Qualified surgical technicians are a crucial part of the surgical team. Surgical technicians perform a
variety of functions prior to, during, and after each surgery that are critical to the success of each case. In
my opinion, a qualified, well-trained surgical technician can make a dramatic impact on the overall care of
the patient.”

What is a surgical technologist?

The surgical technologist makes the operating room work.

Under the supervision of a surgeon, the tech is responsible for the surgical equipment and the overall operating room environment.

A surgical tech becomes certified, a CST, upon completing an accredited program and passing a national examination.
