¨The McAuley Clinic is a division of Cooperative Health Services, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of OMHS.
News: McAuley Clinic relocates
The McAuley Clinic is now located at 819 East 9th Street, just across the street from OMHS. The phone number is still 926-6575. City bus service is available to Center Street next to the new location.
Increasing demand for McAuley Clinic services spurred plans by OMHS to move from the Daniel Pitino Shelter and expand the facility. "The need is tremendous," says Mary Danhauer, McAuley's principle healthcare provider. Learn more about the move.
Our Mission
Healing the sick, improving the health of our community—regardless of their ability to pay. At the McAuley Clinic, it’s a mission we take seriously. We exist for one reason: to provide quality, compassionate healthcare to those who are least able to afford it—low-income individuals not covered by insurance, Medicaid or Medicare. We provide physical exams, treat minor illnesses, and help those with conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure stay on track. We also work with the Susan G. Komen Foundation to provide mammograms. When patients need specialized treatment, we work with community agencies like DC-CAP and GRDHD to secure referrals to specialty physicians.
Our Team
In addition to a fulltime staff provided by OMHS, the clinic receives support from more than a dozen devoted volunteers, including both clinical and nonclinical workers. Our team is led by Mary Danhauer, APRN, a nurse practitioner with an extraordinary record of patient care and community service, for which she and the McAuley staff were recently honored. Physician assistants also see patients at the clinic.
Our Results
According to a survey conducted by the clinic, 48 percent of McAuley patients said they would not have access to primary care if the clinic did not exist. Another 45 percent said they used the hospital emergency department for primary care before becoming a McAuley patient.
