Advanced Digital Mammography

When it comes to fighting breast cancer, early detection is often the key.  Digital mammography at the Mitchell Memorial Cancer Center is changing the way screenings are done, producing more accurate results and earlier detection.  In fact, independent prospective studies have shown an 8-19% increase in cancer detection through the use of digital mammography and computer aided detection technology.

Some of the features of the Cancer Center’s digital mammography technology include:

  • Incredibly sharp digital images
In many digital mammography systems, the effects of light diffusion often produce lower-grade images.  But the Cancer Center’s system eliminates the effects of light diffusion, resulting in images of astounding quality.
  • Improved visibility
Direct capture technology offers a more complete view of the breast, particularly near the skin line, the chest wall and in women with dense breast tissue.
  • Less time and discomfort
The system features a wide field of view that can accommodate almost all breast sizes with a single exposure, which means less time and discomfort for the patient.
Advanced digital mammography…part of a new era of cancer detection at the Mitchell Memorial Cancer Center.
