A Team Approach Means Top-Quality Care
At the Mitchell Memorial Cancer Center, we believe top-quality care starts with the very best physicians working together to ensure each patient receives the most effective treatment possible. We call it a multidisciplinary approach, and it means top-notch, individualized care from an entire team of cancer specialists and other medical professionals.
At the Cancer Center, specialists in medical, radiation and surgical oncology meet regularly to review strategies and evaluate treatment options. Called “tumor conferences,” these meetings combine the unique skills and expertise of each specialist to determine treatment strategy options. In addition to physician specialists, the team may also include surgeons, pathologists, radiologists, nurses, therapists, medical physicists, patient educators, case managers, dietitians, and chaplains.
